This is an important lesson we all need. People see a Rebel flag and assume they are among racists all the time. It’s been that way for decades. And many times, that is very true. But there are also many instances where it is not. Some people represent the Rebel flag simply because it is the history of where they come from in the South, even though they don’t agree with slavery, racism, war, or unfair treatment of any non-white persons or groups of people. While some might bark back saying that if you represent that flag for the history of it, then you are promoting racism. Not always true, they could be promoting the lessons learned from what happened in the South, to “rise again” and be better next time. Clearly this young man didn’t have a problem helping someone who needed it, let alone people of color.
